The Tondyr (literally “Fanged Beasts”) are the savage animals who dwell among Unbound Society, stalking the night – a Sect within a Sect. Their forebearers were the original and fabled Beserkers of the old Norse tradition – part human, part beast, and all rage. Their origin however precedes the earliest written and spoken tales told on the Earth World. The teachings of the Tondyr talk of their ancestors as rulers of stars, traversing the great smoke riding chariots of lightning. Whatever their true origin one thing is certain; the Tondyr in the Age of the Unbound are secretive, suspicious, and exist in the murky grey area between the mundane and the arcane. Though few outside Unbound society know of the Unbound’s existence, fewer still within Unbound society know of the Tondyr’s existence. Those who make this discovery are often faced with a simple choice with limited options. One who is strong enough (in Spirit, as well as physical presence) may join and do what is right, or turn their face and never speak of what was seen, or become a marked enemy and offer the Soul unto the fang. The practices of the Tondyr play fast and loose with the Natural Laws of the Unbound. The Tondyr however, would have all know that they are the only beasts of the Earth working in accordance with their true nature. HOW TO USE THIS EXPANSION For this Expansion you will require the Prevail Unbound Core Rulebook (CRB) and a method to record any additional information. Any additional dice required will be listed. The Specialities within this Expansion are provided to demonstrate how the system may be expanded upon. The Storyteller and Players may work together to come up with additional Specialisations which enhance gameplay, Character development, or the adventure as a whole. It is advantageous for the Storyteller to familiarise themselves with the contents of this Expansion in full. Players who wish to adopt any Specialities contained within may also read and digest the information within this Expansion. THE BONUS DIE Some Specialities may call for a Bonus Die to be rolled as well as the nominal requisite die. When this is called for by the Storyteller, the Player may roll both dice and select the most advantageous as their result. As with all Original Frontier systems the Storyteller has the final decision on any matters. Background Every culture has it’s own legends of those who shapeshift into demonic beasts, under a variety of circumstances and for a variety of purposes. The Tondyr believe they are the culmination of all of these legends. While in their Tondyr form (the True form, as they refer to it) they are able to consume and commune with the true Souls inhabiting the world around them. A Tondyr hunt, far from being the savagery it appears to be, to the Tondyr is a deeply important ritual for cleansing both the land and the Spirit Realm. The Tondyr consider this task their challenge and their burden. When a Tondyr consumes a Soul an internal and Infernal struggle ensues. When those not accustomed to this world see a Tondyr shift to their True form for the first time, they become open to the influence of guttural and primeval commands the Tondyr are able to impart. This is communicated through growls, or sometimes just a look. The Tondyr may inhabit established Sects and have been favoured by many Supernals in the past. They may also form their own Sects. Though largely autonomous in their approach, they are still bound by the Natural Laws of the Unbound.
