Brothers at War is wargame system to land battles in the American Civil War (ACW) on 6mm to 20mm scale.
The basic fighting unit is a company or a battery of artilley. These are grouped into divisions.
Turns are performed by alternate activation of divisions, with the quality of the commanders determining some issues.
Basic unit types are: infantry, cavalry, artillery and special units (General, Officer, Banner, Skirmisher).
Points system for units and army lists for points based games.
The army lists can be used to convert historical orders of battle, into lists for games.
The objective is to provide an easy, agile and adaptable rules system for the simulation of combat in the American Civil War.
The definitions of range of weapons were based on historical sources and serious publications, in particular the book “Small Arms at Gettysburg”, by Joseph G. Bilby.
Likewise, the rules for combat formations and for the historical characteristics of each army were also the target of research in specialized bibliography on the subject.
