From the Rules:
"General. Khans and Kings (K&K) is the first expansion to the Chevauchee game. Neither game is intended to be a rigorous historical exercise, but more to provide a fun game with some sense of correct period flavor and feel. In this case, K&K adds an “Eastern” (for lack of a more specific term) series of decks, along with a modified “Western” opponent to face them. The Eastern forces are representative of Steppe Warrior armies, most closely modeling Mongols, but also representative of their inheritors as well (Golden Horde, Blue Horde, White Horde, Timurids, Tartars, Cumans, and so forth)."
