From the introduction: You wake up in a home you don’t recognize. You feel cold. As you make your way around the home, inspecting its abandoned rooms and decaying interior, you realize you only feel the cold. You’re not hungry, tired, or anything, really. Just cold. Someone comes in. “Hello? Anyone here?” they call out. You answer, but your voice sounds strange to you. You walk up to them, and they pointedly ignore you. You become angry (even the anger feels odd). Before you can say anything else, they walk right through you. You look down at your hands. Really look at them. You can see through them, just barely. And now it’s fear, fear that doesn’t sit right in you. And you realize it’s because you no longer have a physical heart for the fear to grip on to. That’s right. You died.
