The Game of Real Life is a fun and simple way to cultivate these skills for living. The Game is based on the principles of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). The goal of DBT is to help us live in the moment, cope healthily with stress, regulate our emotions, and improve our relationships.
The Game teaches DBT skills by presenting a Conflict card. Each player must use a dealt DBT Skill card to argue why their Skill is best suited to solve the conflict and win the round. When you win a Conflict round, you gain points towards your Life Goal card.
There are two ways to win The Game: 1) Win the most rounds of Conflicts; or, 2) come closest to reaching your Life Goal Card points. And even if you're not playing The Game, you can always refer to the Skill cards when you feel overwhelmed, or you need to make a difficult decision.
