Kidnapping is a trick-taking where you have to NOT follow suit: A card in a suit that has already been played is a loser regardless of rank. The game is similar to the classic game Hearts. In Kidnapping, players put baby goats (“kids”) to sleep for the afternoon (“napping”). Players fill their hands with napping cards of four kinds: pillows, harps, lassoes and baseball bats. The goats differ, and many resist a rest from different sleep aids. Each trick, a random kid is drawn, and each player plays a card in turn. The first player wins by default, but subsequent players can win if their play is a new suit and is at least equal to the current winner. A round (called an afternoon) consists of ten randomly-selected kids, and each player gets one point for each kid they put to bed (each trick won). Afternoons continue until at least one player passes a pre-decided number of points. If there is 1-3 players, there is an artificial player. The game has 54 cards: 40 Napping cards and 14 Kid cards.
