Yamie Chess is a math learning toy for grades kindergarten through 8th grade. The game pairs cartoon characters drawn by award-winning ex-Disney animators with math and science lessons from qualified U.S. educators to inspire young minds. Yamie Chess covers key math and science skills such as algebra, geometry, data analysis, numbers, and measurement.
The game was designed by a group of post-graduate math educators, expert scientists, and U.S. engineers from leading American universities such as MIT, Stanford, Caltech, Columbia, and Vanderbilt University.
Jennifer Shahade, a two-time American women's chess champion, and chess author Jeremy Silman are two of the credited lead designers.
The contents include tournament-size classic chess set with specially cartoon-adapted chess pieces designed for little hands (character images on the bottom of the pieces), an interactive math comic book, and 12 coloring pencils.
The game was officially launched on February 16, 2014, at the New York City Toy Fair.
