This is a unique combination of dexterity and wargame. You drop clay 'bombs' through holes in the provided airplanes and hope they stick to the target locations on the board. Earn points for completing the bombing missions during World War II.
Poph-Itt TOASTED WHIFFS cereal premium introduced the game "Bomb Tokyo" which was made by the Broughton Specialty Co. in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1942. It was named "Game of the Year" in 1942. The game was distributed by the Poph-Itt Cereal Company of Minneapolis as a mail-away premium. It was shipped rolled in a solid cardboard tube. The playing field measures about 16" by 22" with a full-color artwork layout of city of Tokyo and its harbor. The board illustrates factories, the emperor's palace, residential areas, and ships.
The object of the game is to drop round bombs made from modeling clay (which was not included) on different areas of Tokyo and the ships in the harbor to score various points. Game includes 4 thin card stock airplanes that come apart (fuselage and wings), each with a "sighting hole" and place to drop your clay bombs. It includes paper playing pieces marked "destroyed" that are placed on the areas that have been destroyed by your bombs.
