Each player receives "guest checks" that indicate the four items (chef and three different type of food) a guest at their Good Eats Diner has ordered. Shuffle and place 40 meal tiles (8 cooks, 8 main dishes, 8 beverages, 8 side orders or desserts, 4 cranky customers, 2 Mikeys, and 2 Mitts) face down. On each turn, players can turn over two tiles for all to see. If any of the tiles match what is on one of their guest checks, then keep the tiles and place them on the check. If you match both tiles, the player may turn over two more. Once a menu on the check is completed, then the player receives a dollar tip. The game ends when a dollar figure of tips is obtained, which depends on the number of players in the game.
