It is Warm Work is a set of easy to play rules for fighting fleet battles in the Age of Sail using miniatures or cardboard counters. The rules recreate the flavor of the period with a minimal amount of complexity. The rules were written with a focus on the period 1740-1815, but can easily be used to re-fight Age of Sail Battles from before and after those dates.
The intent of the rules was to provide for the ability for a single player to use a large number of ships and for the game to be concluded with a clear winner in a single 3 to 4 hour gaming session.
The end product is a balance between the reality and game. It is Warm Work strikes a fair balance between period flavor and ease of play. The system is pretty basic when compared to most rules for the period, but the rules give good solid results that reflect the period.
