In an age of exploration, rival nations battle for dominance. Discover new lands. Amass great wealth. Gather support. Above all, ensure imperial stability in a time of chaos.
Empire is a board game of strategy, commerce, diplomacy, and power. Two to six players play as 18th century colonial nations competing to inspire the support of their people by providing them with valuable goods. Nations produce goods by working their people on territories gained in a shifting array of ongoing wars. Goods are also sold to an open market where players set the price to finance more armies.
Players can also trade any of their resources with any other player at any time. Empire offers completely free, open and unfettered trading and diplomacy. Empire's turn-less simultaneous action selection system allows negotiation and exchange to integrate smoothly into the game flow.
Empire is fast-paced and filled with tense decisions, negotiation, and trading. The game lasts around 30 minutes, has no dice or similar randomness, and takes about 5 minutes to explain.
