El Mundo ("The World") is a 4 player game of backgammon from Alphonso the Wise's Book of Games ("Libros del Axedrez, Dados et Tablas") produced in the late 13th century.
El Mundo is a form of backgammon, played on a round board. The board is divided into quarters with each quarter having six spaces. Players start with 12 pieces off the board and roll three six-sided dice to bring them on. The first player to get all of their pieces to the opposite quarter and then bear them off wins.
