Background Nestled in an area that is filled with nearby smaller farming establishments and some heavily traveled trade routes, the once tiny hamlet of Tanner’s Crossing became a popular resting point for tired merchants and farmers passing through. Such visitors allowed the community to quickly grow into a thriving village with two inns and a rich variety of specialty shops. Beneath the prosperity of this village lies a growing element of corruption and criminal plotting. Stolen goods are frequently traded on the north side of the village while a flophouse on the south side provides lodging for thieves, fugitives, and drifters. The areas immediately surrounding Tanner’s Crossing are becoming less safe to travel, which defeats the community’s goal of being an inviting place to stop at for a brief rest. The footpads, robbers, and shady conspirers also threaten to hinder the growth of the village’s expansion of population and businesses.
