User summary:
QuIRC implements a randomization method that utilizes the timestamps of actions to determine randomly the outcomes. The rules are simple and can be used with any genre; the mechanics are designed to support Internet Relay Chat (IRC) play, but they could be adapted to any "instant message" system that can timestamp text exchanges. It would be very difficult to utilize the mechanic with a verbal exchange.
Characters, called Protagonists, gain one Point every time the timestamp Hour increments. Points can be spent during play to alter the narrative sequence. Otherwise, play proceeds in a progression of narrative turns. If a Point is spent then the timestamp provides two values - Destiny and Nemesis - which are utilized to determine the outcome.
