Galactic War 2202 is a doujin (fan-made) game that was only produced for sale at Japanese game shows. To get one you had to order in advance and then pick it up at the show. It was not sold to the general public.

This is a strategic simulation war game which is based on the war between the two major interstellar nations – Galman Empire and the Bolar Federation, which was depicted in the TV anime "Space Battleship Yamato III".
As leaders of the Galman Empire or the Bolar Federation, players will build ships, engage in fleet battles, and compete for full control of the star system.

Each turn lasts for about 2 months. The players are given about 20 normal ship units and 1~5 special ship units. 1 fortress unit represents 1 whole fortress.

Galactic War 2202 is a retheme of the Legend of the Galactic Heroes and plays much the same way with some changes to it to suit Space Battleship Yamato.

The game comes with a rulebook, map, 11 sets of counters, and several organizational and turn charts. All of this must be assembled to play.
