Postcard Brittany is a relatively fast and simple - NO "Zones of Control!" - but historical little 6-turn sudden-death postcard wargame about General George Patton's August 1944 coup de main attempts to grab the major French ports of Brittany, before the Germans could organize their defenses.
Regimental level: 14 German units, 3 French FFI groups, and 11 US units in hex-and-counter format.
1-4 player game with at least initially hidden German units spread out in the peninsula.
Allied movement impeded by Strassesperren - roadblocks - as well as German units ... as well as traffic jamming on roads.
FFI groups can recon unknown German units, destroy undefended German roadblocks, and block German retreats.
Patton's special engineer-equipped Task Force A included, and it can be 'decisive.' (Thanks, George.)
Historically, Patton failed, chafing at the corps commander's hesitancy, but you can do better. Right? :-)
Good solitaire game - or in very large format, team game - with US 4th and 6th Armored Divisions necessarily going down separate east-west roads.
