The rules are the same as regular chess, except for these changes. Every piece has a nominal value attached to them. E.g. The Queen is worth six, a Pawn is worth one. Pieces move like in traditional chess. You can capture opposing pieces, which will then transform them according to their former value minus the value of the opposing piece, into the piece which value it now represents. This applys vice-versa. For example: Queen(6) captures Pawn(1) and will transform into a Rook(5), or Pawn(1) captures Rook(5) which transforms said Rook into a Knight(4). The pieces that go below value one will be put outside the board. You can also capture your own pieces, which adds their values together and promotes the capturing piece accordingly.

To make transformation handier, the status of the set pieces (whether it‘s a Knight or a Bishop) is displayed on each side of a die. The board is a seven by seven squared chess board. To account for the six sides of a die, a new piece has been added, which we of today call Geminus, which acts like a doubled Pawn and can capture one square diagonally in any direction and can move one or two squares forward or one back.

The goal is like in traditional chess, to check mate the King of the opposing side.
