From the rules:

The object of the game is to be the first player to obtain a PhD in Cinematix. This is accomplished by obtaining four degree levels. At each degree level a player will be expected to obtain a Visualization card. A Visualization card from one degree level will allow a player to enter into the next degree level. Once a player has accumulated a Visualization card for each of the four degree levels he/she will be in a position to obtain a PhD.
