Sgropin is a card game in which 2 to 4 players combine ingredients to create traditional dishes from the Veneto region, matching them with the right drinks to score more points.
There are 6 different traditional dishes whose recipe requires the combination of 2 or 3 ingredients. Each dish can be created a limited number of times and recipes scores from 1 to 10 points.
Each player is dealt a hand of 6 cards representing ingredients and drinks. From the deck, 5 cards are dealt face up. On the turn, the player takes 1 face-up card from the pool or 2 cards from the deck, combines the ingredients to create a dish and - since only 6 cards can be held in the hand - discards the excess cards by placing them on top of the face-up cards in the pool.
Special card "Polenta" give the chance to move the face-up cards in the pool and special card "Sgropin" let take a card from an opponent when he creates a dish.
Drinks give additional points when creating a dish, while possession of drinks at the end of the game gives negative points.
The game ends when the deck is empty and victory goes to the player with the most points.
Sgropin takes its name from the typical after-meal that can be found in Veneto, but also from any generic digestive or convivial moment accompanied by other classy spirits.
