Beschreibung
Akkad is an intense strategy game of conquest, industry, warfare, and religion, themed around the Akkadian Empire in ancient Mesopotamia. Players will complete quests to gain Victory Points and earn the favour of the king, Naram-Suen. Expand your territory, build and upgrade your cities, collect resources and taxes, dig canals, raise temples, recruit armies for battle, march legions along the Tigris and Euphrates, and send priests to convert heretics to your cause.

The game is played in rounds that consist of four phases:
1. Select role and worship cards, in which players will go in turn order to select a role card and a god or goddess to worship for that round. This will give a player access to unique abilities during that round of gameplay.

2. Reveal and event - an event is revealed that could have positive or negative effects on the board and/or on players.

3. Action Phase, wherein players will be able to carry out actions with their command tokens, such as moving their units around the board, developing their city, collecting resources, recruiting units, digging canals, building temples, sending priests to convert territory, and combatting rebels, monsters, or other players. They will also be able to use their selected role and worship cards which could have a significant impact on gameplay for everyone that round.

4. Prestige Phase, in which players will score any quests they have completed to earn victory points, heal any injured units, receive bonuses and generally reset the board. Role and worship cards will also be returned so that players can choose new card in the next round.

Once a player has received 9 victory points they are declared the winner and the game ends!

Akkad is a 4x (expand, explore, exploit, and exterminate) style strategy game set in the ancient world with real people, places, and events that have informed the gameplay, art and illustration, and mechanics of the game.
