Beschreibung
CHESSaga is a fantasy/chess game where players take their chess pieces on story-driven journeys across custom game-maps!
The hero player controls 3 chess pieces -- a knight, a bishop, and a rook. On each map, they face 1 or more enemy pieces, controlled by the villain player. An losses the hero incurs are permanent. On the first 6 maps, the goal is to rescue the captured pawn(s) then escape the board via a specified exit square. On those boards, the pawns are stationary objects. Defeating the enemy piece(s) is not necessary. On the final board, the pawns activate and join the hero to help them capture the enemy king. If the hero players makes it through all 7 boards and capture the enemy king, they win. Otherwise, the villain wins.
With more than 2 players, players split control of the hero pieces. The rulebook also provides loose guidelines for playing solo and controlling both sides fairly.
The gameboards and rules are all contained in a thin comic-book sized booklet that opens up to different pages for different missions.
