Beschreibung
A wargame played on a square grid using square cardboard tokens for representing military units. It was played around 1809-1820 at the Plebanischen Institute in Wien and was probably designed by a teacher or student(s) there. The rules were written down by an Austrian army officer A.P Reyer and published under the name "Ein Altes Kriegsspiel" (that translates to "An Old Wargame") in 1858. The rulebook also contains drawings showing an example game board and images that can be used for painting the units, although they are not to scale or complete, so players are expected to construct their own components rather than cut out the images from the book.
The book retained the original theme from the game as played in the 1810's, with images showing Napoleonic war era uniforms and weapons.
