5 minutes, 3 words, unlimited possibilities. A 5-minute thriller involving a rubber chicken, hot air balloon, and a watermelon?
Anything is possible when you become a Champion of Story! Select three subject cards, roll the die to determine the story genre and let your imagination run wild in this hilarious game of creativity! Anyone can join the fun, but only one will be crowned the Champion. Do you have what it takes?
Rules
Randomly, arbitrarily, or by the selection of cards (longest word or phrase) one person is selected as the Card God.
The Card God selects three subject cards and rolls the Die of Decision.
The remaining players – the Card Champions - will have 5 min to incorporate the subjects of the three cards in a story of the style dictated by the Die of Decision. The words must be used implicitly. If a selected card reads ‘a pod of whales’ then the story must use the exact phrase ‘a pod of whales’. The only modifications allowed are pluralization and possessive modifiers. If a verb is in gerund form or presented in a certain tense then they must be maintained.
When the five minutes elapse, each champion will present his or her story before the Card God and the other champions. When all stories have been read the Card God selects the victors of the round. The winners receive a number cards as dictated by the Card God, though the cards cannot be distributed evenly. Victory cards may be distributed 3-0 or 2-1. 1-1-1 is not allowed.
This is not a competition for the weak.
If the Card God so chooses he may award a Crown of Laurels to a truly exceptional literary achievement. A Crown of Laurels is worth 5 subject cards.
Once all cards have been awarded the title of Card God moves to the person to the left of the current Card God and the game continues.
The Card Champion who obtains the most cards and laurels by the end of the game, as chosen by the participants or when one champion is awarded 5 Crowns of Laurels, wins and is crowned Champion of Champions.
