Overview and Outlook of Analog.Games
A warm welcome to our English-speaking guests!
We are planning to internationalise into English, French and Spanish at the start of 2025. At SPIEL 24 in Essen, we experienced a great deal of interest in the internationalisation of our platform. Until then, here is a brief overview of Analog.Games and what we are planning and rolling out in the coming months:
Analog.Games is a platform for players and collectors of analog games: board games, role-playing games, tabletop games, puzzles and many more. We offer our visitors a price comparison and availability function from now on ten different shops. Our marketplace can be used to trade in new and used games, and finally, community functions and collection management round off the offer.
Our marketplace works like a stock exchange. A seller places an ‘ask’ and potential buyers place ‘bids’. If the bid and ask match, the trade is concluded. However, it is also possible to change the originally intended price by cleverly adjusting the bids and asks.
Our planned roadmap is as follows:
- October 2024: Update of the database (to include all the new products from SPIEL) and implementation of the payment system.
- November 2024: Activation of the B2C marketplace. This will enable self-publishers and publishers to sell their games directly to interested players and collectors.
- December 2024: Activation of the B2B marketplace. This will enable business customers to trade larger quantities of games among themselves.
We are planning the following features for the coming year:
- Q1 2025: Internationalisation and options and features specifically for game authors and publishers
- Q2 2025: Logistics and fulfilment for national and international customers
B2C und B2B Marktetplaces
In November 2024, we plan to launch our B2C marketplace. This will make it possible to buy games from business customers on our marketplace.
Our proven trading system, which is modelled on a securities exchange, will be used for this. Providers place games in the marketplace with an ‘ask’ and interested consumers can place ‘bids’ for them. If the bid and ask match, the trade is concluded.
The big difference to the C2C marketplace is that a commercial provider can place several games of the same type. If one is sold, another one takes its place until the entered quota is exhausted. As with any other trade on our platform, the Ask can be changed at any time to entice more users to buy.
This offer is particularly aimed at self-publishers and publishers who can use it to sell their games quickly and easily. The only costs incurred are transaction costs. There is no basic fee to start with. If it is foreseeable that many transactions will be carried out via Analog.Games, you can purchase the Business Premium Package, which requires a basic fee but includes a significant discount on transaction costs. Publishers and retailers can also take advantage of the offer, whether it's to open up another distribution channel or to carry out targeted sales – keyword: clearance sale.
The B2B marketplace will follow as planned in December 2024. This will not be accessible to private players and collectors.
It will enable trading between business customers. Self-publishers, publishers, shops and stores can buy and sell games in larger quantities. Again, with the familiar trading system of a stock exchange, so that flexible prices and deals are possible. A seller places a quota of games and buyers can bid on any number of items. The game remains on offer until the quota is exhausted. This way, publishers can easily reach new groups of buyers or accelerate the sale of stock.
The B2B marketplace allows discounts based on quantity and other parameters. Likewise, prices are shown net, i.e. excluding sales tax.
It is also possible to supply both marketplaces with a single offer: B2C and B2B.
Until the second quarter of 2025, sellers are still responsible for shipping and fulfilment themselves. After that, it will be possible to use our logistics partner to also handle drop-shipping via Analog.Games.
These marketplaces are not only available to domestic providers, but also to international customers. This enables a small publisher from the USA to distribute its games in Europe. At SPIEL 24, we received a lot of positive feedback and specific interest in the Analog.Games marketplaces, and we will implement these wishes as soon as possible
Analog.Games is positioned between an all info hub and community site and a marketplace and wants to fill a niche with a dedicated place for trading. The two creators of Analog.Games are united by their passion for analog gaming. While Frank has a long and proven background in stock exchanges, Reto has been working in IT as a consultant and developer for more than 25 years. We not only have the ideas but also all the relevant knowledge and skills to implement them in-house.
Have fun with Analog.Games!
