Burrow of the Ghouls (2025)

From the publishers blurb: Burrow of the Ghouls [LotFP] is a Lamentations of the Flame Princess(tm) compatible side quest featuring a burrow full of ghouls (very) loosely based on the works of H.P. Lovecraft. It is made up of a dungeon with 11 described area, 16 (or more) monsters of HD 2 (and some: HD 3), a little bit of plunder, a strange item the characters may find and take with them as well as an NPC that a few words may be exchanged with. Its by no means a full-fledged adventure with a story arc and lots of interaction: what you get is the mentioned encounter area (in form of a dungeon), ideas for hooks, the brief room descriptions (a few sentences each) and the necessary stats and what is to be rolled for. OSR-style. It also includes a decision that may trouble some players (in an unpleasant way) and descriptive elements are that routed in visceral horror. While nothing in here will have a “harder impact” than what official LotFP-releases cater to the audience (and in fact: might be considered tame by these standard), one shall not expect a clean-cut assault on an orc war camp here. In regard to level and player experience, it should be said that the characters will have to face one BIG fight instead of taking out the opposition room by room (as in most adventures). Thereby, characters of mid level might best be suited for this scenario. Those of 1st and 2nd level may very well end up as ghoul chow. Novice players and Referees are both likely to be in over their heads, those with some experience should have no trouble. Of the 15 pages, 11 are content.
