“Now your statues are standing and pouring sweat. They shiver with dread. The black blood drips from the highest rooftops. They have seen the necessity of evil. A wall of wood alone shall be uncaptured, await not in quiet the coming of the horses, the marching feet, the armed host upon the land. Slip away. Turn your back. You will meet in battle anyway. O holy Salamis, you will be the death of many a woman's son between the seedtime and the harvest of the grain………”
A set of campaign rules at the operational level for LFG’s “Ad Mare Bellum” Ancient naval rules covering the period 2000BC to 900AD.
As well as rules covering campaign setup, movement, terrain generation and supply the rules cover the inclusion of land armies that the navies are supporting, either using an abstract system or linking to a suitable set of land rules such as DBA. A points system for the main “Ad Mare Bellum” rules is also introduced.
