In Back Whence Ye Came! mortal players cooperate in order to send the Devil back whence he came. With two distinct decks, one for the Devil called the "Devil Deck" and another for the mortal players called the "Mortal Deck", the mortal players draw cards that can be used to banish the cards that the Devil pulls from the "Devil Deck" to make his hand.
Each player has 12 "Soul Token"s that represent their fragile mortal souls. The Devil's Hand plays itself in an attempt to steal the "Soul Tokens" from the mortal players. The mortal players use the cards they draw from the "Mortal Deck" to banish the cards in the Devil's Hand, as well as grant themselves extra bonuses and abilities.
The Devil wins when the mortal players lose all of their "Soul Tokens". The players win once the Devil is left with no more cards in his hand. The game is balanced for 1-3 players, but you could theoretically play with more than 3. Yes, you read that right, you can even play the game solo.
There are also advanced rules that involve the mortal players having to protect their sanity as well as their souls. These rules are included in the core game deck and not in any expansion or anything like that. Can you protect your soul and sanity in the face of the horrors from beyond the veil?
