The Architect made a name for himself by launching attacks on Gotham City and targeting the Wayne, Cobblepot, Kane, and Elliot families. These bloodlines are responsible for the construction of Gotham City. But so, too, were the Gates, and beneath the Architect’s mask hides Zachary Gate, heir to the Gate family. His aim is to stand victorious over these age-old blood feuds. By combining his expertise in demolition with his detailed knowledge of the city, he is able to locate and target weak points and hideouts. He is also a dangerous hand-to-hand combatant thanks to his costume that grants him Herculean strength.
Vengeance for the persecution of his notable forefathers drives this villains’ destructive goals.
Wearing the suit his grandfather created affords him tremendous fortitude as he plans massive swathes of destruction throughout the city thanks to his extensive knowledge of explosives.
It also allows him to create pathways through the city – where there were none before.
