Achtung Jabo! is a solitaire wargame about the 371st Fighter Group, which flew ground attack missions on D-Day in the P-47D Thunderbolts (known for its famous "Razorback"). Gameplay depicts the Group's missions on D-Day, June 6, 1944, and the book includes extensive research into the techniques, history, and practices of Allied fighter-bomber units at the time of D-Day.

All Game Maps are historically accurate paintings -- 14 in all -- created meticulously with reference to photo reconnaissance images from the time, featuring all of the targets assigned that day. The game focuses on replayability and targets will vary each time you play. Your pilots should expect to encounter German Tiger tanks, Panthers, "Hetzers", armored half-tracks, Opel Blitz trucks, artillery pieces, and Wehrmacht infantry. You will fly along railroad routes looking for locomotives and rail cars. You will bomb bridges and target gun emplacements, "tobruks" and pillboxes. Beware, the Germans will respond in force with their famous 88 flak guns and rapid-firing quad-20 mm guns for close-in defense. You will be armed with bombs and a full load of bullets for each Thunderbolt's eight .50 cal machine guns.

Just as in history, your Fighter Group's three squadrons will rove across the Normandy countryside in the areas located behind UTAH and OMAHA Beaches. Your overall mission is to prevent the Germans from reinforcing their forces arrayed in defense against the Allied landings, but you never know what targets will present themselves as you fly your assigned patrols. Your mission orders are clear -- and they are exactly the same orders as the 371st Fighter Group actually received that day.

Victory requires you to complete ALL of your assigned missions and hopefully not lose too many of your planes and pilots to enemy fire. It's time to paint D-Day invasion stripes on your planes and get into the air!
