ALFA-TAU (1982)

This volume presents the rules of one of the first real wargames developed in Italy. At first it was played at the A.R.G.O. (Roman Association of Operative Games) and then, in the '70s, it was slowly presented, piece by piece, on the defense magazine Esercito e Armi - Interconair. At last it was published as a book by the Italian editor Mursia that had a series of book dedicated to adult gaming.
The game reproduces, at operational level, the clashes for the control of a sea zone. The players control ships and planes that are clearly the transposition of the class of planes that were available in the '70s. By reading the rules it is clear that the creator was a navy staff officer, you don't have any real nation but you lead hypothetical nations. With the book was supplied a map representing the contended sea zone.

Il presente volume costituisce la prima trattazione organica e completa apparsa sinora in Italia sulla simulazione dei conflitti aeronavali di epoca contemporanea, in ambiente prevalentemente strategico.
Il testo affronta praticamente tutti gli aspetti di una guerra aeronavale sia dal punto di vista strategico sia da quello tattico ambientando gli avvenimenti in un'area geografica ipotetica, in modo da non conferire eccessiva complicazione al gioco: ciò, peraltro, non ne riduce la validità per quanto riguarda gli aspetti tecnico-dottrinali relativi all'inpiego delle forze aeronavali e delle risorse dei belligeranti.
L'opera - per la sua struttura, per la complessità e la varietà delle situazioni che possono essere riprodotte, per la maturità e le conoscenze richieste ai giocatori - si rivolge essenzialmente al pubblico degli adulti; tuttavia, con un minimo di guida iniziale, è possibile effettuarne un'adeguata reinterpretazione e un adattamento che lo rendano agevole e gradevole anche al pubblico dei giovani.
