Will you take off from your planet before the supernova?
In 12 Parsecs, players simultaneously use rolled dice to build their ships, train cadets, and gather fuel.
On your turn, three dice are rolled. Two are used to form two numbers, which fill in spaces on ships to build them, although the numbers must ultimately fit in ascending order. The unused die is then used to build academies or fuel stations to produce more supplies to get the ships running. Smaller ships are finished faster, but need more supplies, while larger ships are worth many more points but need a lot of turns to get going. Once one player builds three of their five ships, the game ends, and players score based on their completed ships, incomplete ships, and surplus supplies.
As a roll-and-write, players will use the same dice as part of their turn, but each player will take different paths to victory.
This game was the winner of the 2020 Design Machine contest under the theme 'social distancing'.
