System 7 Napoleonics is an extension of miniatures wargaming with printed counters substituting for the miniature figures. The scale is 1"=40 yards. One "strength point" (the equivalent of a single miniatures figure) represents 20 infantry, 20 cavalry, 10 artillery crewmen or two guns. Infantry counters are 1¼" wide (50 scale yards), with 10 counters typically comprising a regiment. Turns are notionally about an hour each.
The system is based on GDW's Fire & Steel rules (1"=25yards), with modifications for the distance scale and features such as stacking that are impossible with figures. GDW published 15 counter sets, all for the period from 1808 through 1815.
