Muffin's Magical Kingdom (2023)

On an ordinary day, an ordinary house cat named Muffin, was given an ordinary taste of some less than ordinary cat food. The mix of rotting fish and peculiar additives made her hallucinate. In a very extraordinary feverish trip, seven personalities diverged to manifest the seven houses of Muffins Magical Kingdom. Through acts of political discourse, and the clever use of magical tails, the Houses began to vie for control as they sway the tides of the Muffins Mind.

Muffin's Magical Kingdom is a semi-cooperative trick-taking game for 3 or more players, that plays in 20-45 minutes depending on the number of players. It plays in exactly 21 tricks.

We start with the dealer, who comes in the form of a Rat trying to put the pieces of Muffin back together again. They randomly deal a House and 10 cards to each player. The Rat then chooses the Trump House which serves a dual purpose for scoring. Each trick won, the player collects not only the cards from the trick but also the Trump house card.

Each House has a special ability that is a reflection of their personality trait that is triggered whenever the card is played. These abilities can manipulate players hands, communication, and their future. Players may communicate by passing messages through courier Rats, but each message sent can be read by the Rat player so all houses should handle with care.

The game ends when all 21 tricks are won, or any player wins a Trick from all 7 Houses. If the Rat player wins all 7 Houses, they immediately win the game. If a House player wins all 7 Houses, they immediately lose the game and the Rat wins.

Scoring is based on the house and playing cards won during each each. 1 point for each card, 5 points for each card with a matching house, and 10 points for each card where all house cards are collected for that house. There are 4 cards for each house inclusive of the one randomly dealt at the start of the game.
