Fraction Mania (1998)

Fraction Mania is an educational game designed to teach children to represent the fractions 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5, 1/6 and 1/8. The game uses a solar system theme with planets associated with each of the six fractions above, as well as comets (represented by marbles and additional cards for use with some of the variants.

The equipment provided can be used to play four variants:

1) Beginner's Mania -- Each player in turn rolls a die and collects the appropriate piece in a race to fill his/her planets first.

2) Fraction Mania -- The basic game with the addition of event cards and a requirement for a player to trade up and down to the largest possible fraction he/she can use.

3) Double Mania -- A player can now collect multiple fraction pieces in a given turn and exchange them for equivalent sets on the fly.

4) Action Mania -- A timed game using written logs instead of the planets; the players take turns rolling a die and adding the roll to a log, trading up as appropriate.
