Championship Golf lays no claim to being an elegant reconstruction of the subtleties and skills of real golf. It doesi provides a system for running large-scale tournaments over the full 72-holes, producing the quick and accurate results, and enabling an entire season of big tournaments to be run in the course of a few evenings in the true replay tradition.

80 individual Player cards are provided for the top golfers of one particular season, each golfer being rated separately for his skill at driving, long iron, short iron, and putting. Course Profile Cards are provided together with details of twenty major courses to enable you to reconstruct each course accurately within the framework of the game.

Two games, a Short Game and a Long Game, provide alternative methods of play but both use the same Player Cards and it is perfectly feasible to run the early stages of a tournament using the Short Game, switching to the more detailed Long Game for the final round.

In the Long Game. the Morale Rules can reproduce the brillance of a "hot streak" or the frustrations of temporarily lost form, and in both games Optional rules provide for "steady", "normal" or "taking a gamble" styles of play.
