Intro: 1934 on the flats of the California desert Drag Racing was born. 1940’s-1950’s grew the popularity of illegal street racing among high-schoolers Finding a quick thrill and showing off their cars. Mid 1950’s the first legal ¼ mile drag strip was built and the popularity grew. Today exists many different classes of professional drag racing from top fuel, funny car, pro-stock, and more…….with large purses to be won.
