Beschreibung
Star Thieves is a science fiction heist board game, first developed and released in 2013.
Set in the year 2595, aboard a futuristic space station - physically represented by a medium-sized hexagonal board - up to eight players are directed to navigate towards the crux of the game, the Black Star Diamond, located at the center. Players are dealt a small hand of cards that are categorized as "Equipment", "Action" and "PvP" - the last of which is inaccessible throughout this first phase called "Heist Mode". During this time, players must overcome obstacles, including doors and turrets, while also accounting for treachery dealt by their opponents.
Once the Black Star Diamond has been snatched, the board resets into "PvP Mode", which allows for players to utilize their generally lethal PvP cards, to pursue the jewel's carrier. The player to return to their starting hexagon dubbed the "Spawn Point" wins the game.
Designed by Samuel Horton, Tobias Phelps and Ryan Brock, the game was intended to emulate the tone of a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) - a video game - title, with heist being the central mechanic. The game was inspired predominantly by Dota 2, Scrolls, Pathfinder Roleplaying Game (1st Edition) and Gloom.
In 2019, American film & video game developer Botto Entertainment acquired the intellectual property rights to Star Thieves.
