"Formuła 1" (or "Wielki wyścig" in the 2012 edition) is the remake of the Polish racing game named "Grand Prix" which was created in the 1980s by the same authors (Jan Rojewski and Michał Stajszczak).
Game mechanics is quite similar to the game "Formula 1" from Waddingtons, which was published in 1962 (see: Formula 1).
The rules of the "Grand Prix" have slightly changed over the years, but the main points in 2007/2012 editions of "Formuła 1" are not changed. Players could prepare their own circuits with use of supplied segments with curves and straights. In the 2007/2012 game editions arrangement of the track spaces has changed for better determining the order of the moves in the turn.
In every turn the players set the speed of their cars and try to drive through curves without an accident to reach the finish line before opponents.
When safe speed for the curve is exceeded, the player has to roll the dice specified number of times to check if the car would stay on the track after breaking or if the accident (and some damage to the tyres) would happen.
The cars are equipped with some amount of tyres tokens, which are used during the game when players brake hard, or accelerate to indicate the tyres wear. In 2007/2012 game editions there are only tyre tokens - in the "Grand Prix" there were cards ("Tyres" and "Brakes") to indicate damage points after hard breaking. Tyre wear is regulated by penalty charts. Set of tyres could be changed (supplemented) in the pit stop during the race.
The game box contains:
16 double-sided track segments (8 squares, 8 triangles) with straights and curves with different safe speeds
6 plastic race cars
6 speedometers (dashboards) with movable speed indicator
174 tire counters
1 dice
polish instruction
