In Scourge of God, one player takes on the role of the Mongolians and the other takes on the role of the Empires which stood in opposition.
Ideally, the game is played in two rounds, with each player taking a turn at each side; however, there is a victory point adjustment ratio for the Mongols in order to accommodate those who have time for only one round.
