Tactex is a hexagonal version of Piet Hein's classic TacTix which was a two-dimensional generalization of Nim. In Tac Tix, players take turns removing pieces away from a rectangular grid. In Tactex, pieces are placed on a five by five by five hexagonally-tiled field and are removed from one of the nine vertical columns or eighteen diagonal rows.
