From the Rules:
Goldfix is an exciting, fast moving, business game based on the South African gold mining industry. Players use their skill, nerve and luck to acquire leases, develop goldmines, produce gold and speculate in the bullion and share markets to raise capital. However, the gold price is continually fluctuating in a bull (up) or bear (down) market. Players also have to contend with taxes, debt, broker's fees, share takeover and possible bankruptcy as they compete in a corporate battle to gain control of South Africa's second largest mining house "Genmin".
