The Felix Sex (Lucky Sixes) was a popular game played in the Roman Empire. Numerous boards, dices and pieces have been found and there are even some descriptions of the game in Latin documents. The Felix Sex appears to be the same as the Duodecima Scripta (The game of Twelve Points), probably the ancestor of the Backgammon and certainly very similar to the Ancient Greek board games.
The oldest boards have three rows of twelve playing squares, divided down the middle by a gap. Usually Romans had a fondness to divide the boards with letters instead of squares, with popular content and sometimes with rude comments.
