Four Corner Kingdoms involves building a tableau of your kingdom using unique placement mechanisms to create combinations of icon types, suite types, etc. which score at the end of the game. Additional aspects of the cards can interfere with your opponents.
Players play two cards from their hands, one at a time. They place the cards in their playing area (tableau) which also represents a map of the topography of their land. There are rules about what terrain does when it is placed (e.g. draw an additional card, gain immunity to attack for the round, etc.). The rules of how the cards are placed also depends on the terrain type.
Your decision of how you make your kingdom depends on trying to score certain elements while also using less valuable (point-wise) utility cards (cards that give you more cards, etc.).
