"Sesquipedalian is a word game, intended primarily as an vocab-building game for kids. It shares mechanics with party games like Cranium and Balderdash. Players move through the board by rolling a die, and complete color coded actions corresponding to their space on the board. Actions include:
- illustrating a word
- acting out a word
- guessing the definition of a word
- making up definitions of a word for other players to guess
- guessing the correct category of a word (such as "astonishing actions")
The game comes with a small dictionary, with a focus on rare, multisyllabic and/or unusual-sounding words. Also included are rules for other simple paper-and-pencil games that can be played using the dictionary, including Hangman, Ghost, and Word Squares.
