Quinella (1938)

Players bet on horses to get chips.

The game is played using a deck of proprietary cards called "KUATRO cards", which have three color squares on each card. The colors correspond to colors of the game pieces (the horses): red, green, yellow, and blue. The cards may have three different colors, or may have more than one square with the same colors.

Any number of players may play, but one player may act as the "bookie" and take bets from the others. Stacks of poker chips may be used to place bets. The players may bet on which place the horses will end the race.

After selling tickets, the horses are placed. The bookie draws cards until at least two colors are the same on a card. Horses are placed on the post in the order that drawn cards with 2 or more colors show up.

Then the race starts. The booke draws cards and reads off the colors on each card. The horses are moved one space for each time its color is called. The race continues until three horses cross the finish line. The players receive payout based on the odds of the tickets they purchased at the start of the game. The winner has the most chips.
