The game "Silvestre in the Rif" is a two-player game that simulates the last six years of the Rif War (1920-1926). One player controls Spain, led by General Silvestre (Sylvester), and the other player controls several Riffian tribes led by Abd-el-Krim.
This wargame cover the Rif War, focusing specifically on the conflict between Spanish forces and Rif tribes. It is a turn-based war game that uses cards, dice, and tokens on a map of the Rif. Players take turns playing cards that allow them to perform actions such as moving units, fighting battles, laying siege to cities, and managing resources. The game includes mechanics such as interception, retreats, supply lines, attrition, and historical events.
The objective of the game for the Spanish player is to obtain 10 or more victory points at the end of the sixth turn. Victory points are earned by controlling key territory, eliminating Rif tribes, and maintaining governance in the Rif. The Riffian player wins if the Spanish player does not reach 10 victory points at the end of turn 6 or if the Spanish player obtains 3 or less governance points during the political phase.
